Net Worth Update – February 2022

It’s time for another net worth update, and luckily February turned out to be a little better than January. The market continues to head in the wrong direction, but it hasn’t been as steep of a downturn as we had in January. My spending was basically in line with my income, so there wasn’t anything too drastic there either.

February Liquid Net Worth:

The market was down very slightly this month, so my contributions were able to balance that out. Cash accounts were essentially flat so I came out ahead of January’s numbers.

February Total Net Worth:

This is the first month after my net worth post update, and it’s nice to see a gain here for the first time.

So let’s see how far my assets would take me at this point. I will calculate that using my average spending over the last 12 months. I’ll multiply that result by 12 months to get the total spending for the year, and then divide my liquid net worth by that amount. That’s how long I’d be able to live off my savings at that point in time.

$3177 average spending last 12 Months * 12 Months = $38,124 spending in a year

$316,094 net worth / $38,124 spending per year = 8.29 years’ worth of spending
